Campus Closure on July 4 and July 5 for Holiday

UMBC will be closed for a holiday on ThursdayJuly 4 and on Friday, July 5, 2019.

The final day for Summer Session I 6-week courses is Wednesday, July 3. Please review your class meeting pattern now to determine how the July 4 & 5 holiday will impact your course.

Non-lab courses must meet for 12.5 hours per credit to fulfill university contact hour requirements. Lab courses must meet for 25 hours per credit to fulfill university contact hour requirements. Alternative delivery classes, such as hybrid or online courses, are also required to fulfill these contact hour requirements. Faculty are responsible for determining the percentage of instructional time that should be moved from the classroom to online.

The following are options to accommodate lost contact hours due to the holiday:

  1. Adjust your class start/end time to make up for the missing contact hours.
  1. Schedule a make-up class session for the missed time. (Saturdays also available to schedule a make-up session.) Note: any meeting dates added to a standard meeting pattern should be included in the “NOTES” section in the schedule of classes.
  1. For hybrid courses – move additional in-person contact time to online.

If you have questions regarding the schedule, please submit a RT ticket to RR-Scheduling-SW
